Born in Alberta but raised in the Gulf Islands on a horse farm, passion for animals has been with Nicola since she was little. Growing up, she always had a menagerie of pets, ranging from cats and dogs, to chickens, ponies, Guinea pigs, and the occasional tree frog. She also has helped with the breeding, raising and training of warmblood horses, and has been a professional horse trainer for over 25 years. Her interest in the medical field began with assisting the horse vets on their regualr visits to the farm- asking many questions and wanting to assist as much as possible, as well as wanting to be included on any medical care of the horses or animals on the farm. After she graduated high school, she attended a college course to become a veterinary assistant- whereby her passion for the veterinary field grew even more. After moving to the USA in 2008, Nicola graduated college in 2013 with a Bachelors Degree in Animal Science, and became a Certified Veterinary Technician. Nicola has always enjoyed having animals in her life, and makes it her passion to ensure they have the best care and life possible. She currently lives in Saanich with her boyfriend and their young son, as well as their 2 cats Cedar and Mr Kitty, and enjoys playground time with her son, as well as spending free time in the horse barn, gardening, baking or painting.
