Originally from Alberta, Melanie moved out west to Vancouver Island in 2000. Growing up riding horses, Melanie has always been fond of animals. When she started working, she enjoyed a number of roles but there always seemed to be one thing missing – there just weren’t enough animals! Deciding to incorporate her passion for companion animals into her professional life, Melanie completed a veterinary assistant diploma program. Working for several years at another local veterinary practice, Melanie joined the ELVH team in 2015.
Melanie’s favourite part about working in a busy veterinary hospital is the energy and flow of the fast-paced environment. Each day brings new patients, cases, and challenges to tackle as a team, and Melanie truly loves being able to assemble these puzzle pieces together into a successful day of helping animals and their humans.
When she is not at the hospital, Melanie might be found camping, planning her next travel adventure, or spending time with her husband, their charming pup Brax (a rescue from Mexico now enjoying the Northern life) and their lop-eared bunny Lola.
